resurrection by oasiaris resurrection by oasiaris
Another origami swan!!! Although... this one could also be called a phoenix, hence the title. Where 'Yusora' is air-themed and 'The Swan's Last Dance' is water-themed, the element corresponding with this artwork is fire. (You guessed that already, din't you?)

Again, this beauty is made out of paper, no other materials and no adhesives. The technique I used is known as 3D origami, block origami or golden venture origami.

'Resurrection' is made out of 775 units and took me about 19 hours.

This is ridiculously awesome. So much effort and attention to detail!
It even speaks a little to the "ugly duckling/swan" transformation. This is something else entirely, thanks for sharing!

Hello! :D

Congrats! As a winner in the contest you receive a feature in my journal (here: [link]) and a pixel art commission. :) The pixel art commission can be an avatar, an emote or whatever pixel scene (see my gallery [link] for examples of what I can make). Please let me know what you'd like.

Hi!
Ow, that's so cool! Thanks for the feature! As for the commission, maybe you could make me a new avatar? I was thinking of an emote-ish thingy that's crafting or something... Something that represents me. Do you have any ideas?

That sounds pretty cool. :D What color would you like the emote to be and would you prefer it to do something specific? :D I can try to make it do some origami or jewelry or whatever else. :)

Maybe a transparent background with a blue emote making a white origami crane, would you be able to do that?

O M G (O.O) so beautiful, lotsa, lotsa skill, and patience, lets not forget patience. do you do your origami all at once?? or do stretch it out over a period of time?

Thank you very much!I always work on them for a period of time, at least a week I would say. Sometimes that leads to me getting destracted and not resuming my work until a month later though.

I don't make patterns for any of my swans. Not only because I want them to be one of a kind; I work from my head, and I change things as I'm working. Making a pattern wouldn't be useful to me. So no, I wouldn't, but I'm flattered by your interest.

I've never tried golden venture, but just out of curiosity, what takes longer, making the units or assembling them?

I tend to give them away as gifts. I make little coloured swans. By little, I meant 120 pieces or so, fits in the palm nicely.

I see. If you'd want to make them more complicated you could use smaller units, but more of them.
